About Malaty Therapy & Me
I founded Malaty Therapy to help teens, young adults and families to deal with life’s challenging changes and behavioral problems. We have grown into a leading Houston therapy practice with 14 therapists and a second Kingwood office. My educational credentials include a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Houston in 2007, followed by Master’s Degree from the University of Houston Clearlake in 2013. Most importantly, for the last 13 years I have worked with adolescents and young adults.I’m proud to have served as a Director, Counselor and Recovery Coach at Archway Academy, the largest sober high school in the United States.
My Journey
As a person in long term recovery myself, I understand the pain, hopelessness and fear of having a life change. For example, when I was 17, my life forever changed when I decided to make that transformation. I literally feared that living a sober life was no life at all. Consequently that fear kept me from ever seeking help and kept me stuck a lot longer than I needed to. It was with the help of family, friends and lots of counseling that landed me in the place I find myself today. I met a counselor that understood me. He understood my pain as a teen and didn’t discredit it. In short, the change wasn’t easy and the road wasn’t always smooth, but I wouldn’t change it one bit.
Above all, my passion ever since I became an adult has been to help adolescents and young adults who struggle with helping themselves. I learned firsthand what the other side looks like, and I want you to experience it as well.
