Therapy for teens, young adults and parents is at the core of our practice. Teenagers and young adults can sometimes best be described as cars with fully functioning accelerators and partially developed breaks. Not only from a risk taking perspective, but also in making positive life choices.
This phase of life is arguably one of the hardest age periods that anyone will go through, which is why we dedicated our careers to helping teens, college students, graduate students entering the job market, young adult children and their families. There are so many paths that need to be navigated and the signs are rarely ever clear.
Teens and young adults (Millennials and Generation Z) need to be seen as people with unique points of view. When talking with teens, we often find that they know exactly what they want. They have goals, aspirations and dreams of their own. The struggle is sometimes how to communicate those needs. Knowing what steps to take in order to achieve their goals and the challenging issues they may be facing is not always clear. Sometimes things get in the way like anxiety, depression, trauma, procrastination or entitlement issues.
Our work together isn’t about us telling your teen or adult child exactly what he or she needs to do in order to get better results. It’s more of a relationship that we will build together where we begin to dissect what is getting in the way of achieving the things they desire for their life. We then create steps to start making small gains. Therapy for teens is about continuously making small gains. Those small victories added up to one big change.
We have extremely dedicated, passionate and highly specialized therapists experienced in teen, young adult and parent, family issues. Our therapists and counselors certifications include the following:
