Malaty Therapy

Kari Ellingson, Student Intern – Therapist in Houston

My passion for counseling began when I started peer-counseling work in 2017, focusing on addiction. Since then, I have been driven to help teens and adults overcome anxiety, addiction, and adjustment challenges. I believe in working collaboratively with my clients to develop a personalized treatment plan that focuses on achievable goals and taking things one step at a time.

Drawing on my background in art, I enjoy incorporating creative activities into therapy sessions to help clients tap into their inner strengths and develop new coping skills. My ultimate goal is to create a safe, non-judgmental space that empowers you to find joy, serenity, and balance in everyday life.

I am currently pursuing a Master’s degree from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. With a Bachelor’s degree in Studio Art and Psychology from the University of Houston, I have developed a unique perspective that blends creative expression with evidence-based therapeutic techniques.

When I am not in session, I love spending time with my family and my four dogs – Bailey, Lyla, Harley, and Dixie. Whether it’s painting or simply enjoying the outdoors, I believe in living life to the fullest and finding moments of happiness in the everyday.
